The Montessori kindergarten / transitional kindergarten program has always been designed to educate children through kindergarten and beyond. At Oak Grove Montessori, families have the option to stay in a personalized, private school environment for their children’s Transitional Kindergarten year (for children who turn 4 by September 1) and/or Kindergarten year (for children who turn 5 by September 2).

Taking ideas from mind to paper can be challenging at this age. With initial teacher support, children break writing into clear steps and create beautiful journals throughout the year.

Montessori Transitional Kindergarten Mathematics Program

In the area of Mathematics, children work on assigning quantity to the numeral, beginning with simple addition and continuing through simple multiplication (depending on interest).

Children also work with clocks to read the hour, half-hour, and beyond on both digital and analog clocks.

They may explore money concepts—understanding relationships such as pennies to a dollar and other practical applications.

Oak Grove Montessori strives to create a transitional kindergarten program in Oakland, CA, that not only addresses academic development but social/emotional development as well.
